I’ve been fortunate enough to cover almost everything — from high school sports to the NFL and Major League Baseball. That versatility extends not just from what I cover but to the types of stories I can write. I’ve won awards for feature writing, can turn around gamers on a tight deadline and consistently break news on my beats, which primarily were college football and basketball along with Class A minor league baseball in the summer.
In addition to print experience, I’ve spent a season and a half as director of media relations for a Class A baseball team including half a season as broadcaster. I also branched out as the co-host and producer of the Journal Star’s weekly online baseball show “Play Ball” in conjunction with my coverage of the Peoria Chiefs.
